Abstract

The article presents the results of breeding work on spring oat (Avena sativa L.) carried out at the Verkhnyatsk Research and Breeding Station. During the research period, the author proved the feasibility of creating a collection with the aim of replenishing the spring oat gene pool in Ukraine to obtain a new source breeding material with optimal parameters for the formation of all properties and traits in modern conditions. The aim of the work was to characterize the spring oat lines selected according to the main economic and valuable indicators. The results of involving registered varieties and breeding lines of spring oat in the breeding process to create a new source material, which is not inferior to the best breeding lines in terms of economic suitability. A detailed analysis of weather and climatic conditions for the growing seasons in 2021–2025 was carried out, which showed that they mainly contributed to the growth and development of plants. Although there were certain deviations in certain periods both in air temperature and in precipitation. 4 promising lines were created, which in terms of yield exceed the Zakat standard from 0.12 to 0.57 t/ha on average over the years and are characterized by a complex of valuable positive agricultural traits. The allocated material is a valuable breeding resource, the use of which will make it possible to accelerate the breeding work on creating productive and adaptive varieties for various areas of use, when using different intensities of cultivation technologies. The “Certificate of Registration of a Sample of the Plant Gene Pool of Ukraine” was received under numbers 2242, 2396, 2598 and 2688, which are included in the working collection of spring oats of the Verkhnyatsk Research and Breeding Station of the Institute of Biological and Biological Sciences and deposited for long-term storage in the National Bank of Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine
