Abstract

Among the most common grain crops, corn occupies a leading position in the world on an area of 187 million hectares with production of about 1 billion tons and an average yield of 5.6 t/ha. Interest in this crop is caused by high productivity and diversity of its use. The literature review of the studied sources presented in the article allows us to highlight the area of corn distribution in the world, the largest producing countries, projected production volumes, exports in recent years and the positive aspects and negative risks of its cultivation. The impact of climate change is analyzed and innovative developments obtained by foreign and domestic researchers from elements of crop cultivation technology are presented. The favorable geographical location of Ukraine and favorable weather conditions for growing corn create objective prerequisites for an alternative to ensuring grain forage balance and the economic state of the grain and livestock industry, so in recent years the sowing area has increased to 5 million hectares
