The article presents a study of the influence of grass and legume components included in grass mixtures on the chemical composition, fodder quality and formation of fodder productivity of sown hayfield for short-term use. The aim of the study was to determine the optimal components for achieving maximum feed quality and effective productivity of hayfield in the Precarpathian region. The research, carried out in the field experiment, was aimed at identifying the influence of the composition of grass mixtures on the content of protein, fat, fibre and other organic substances in the feed. The results obtained indicate that the components of the grass mixtures have a sufficient influence on the chemical composition and feed quality, which opens up prospects for developing optimal feeding strategies and formulating diets for different animal species. Taking into account the data obtained on the chemical composition and feed quality of various grass mixtures, it is possible to effectively select feed compositions and rations adapted to the needs of specific animal species
