Abstract

Ukraine is one of the key players in the global agricultural production sector, with a deeply integrated share of 10 % and the ability to influence the formation of the global trading space. In the 2022/2023 marketing year (from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023), Ukraine exported 48.99 million tons of grain and leguminous crops.

Recently, more and more attention has been paid to the cultivation of triticale as a young high-yielding grain crop and the possibilities of its use to meet the food needs of the ukrainian population. This crop combines the high grain productivity of wheat and the drought resistance and biological nutritional value of rye grain and is increasingly used for the manufacture of various bakery and confectionery products, the production of alcohol, compound feed, etc. The creation of new varieties of this crop and the development of effective resource-saving technologies for their cultivation is an insufficiently realized potential and determines the key positions of production.

The purpose of theoretical review of scientific research by domestic and foreign scientists was to clarify the area of distribution of the crop, its economic significance, the achievements of selection in creating new varieties, effective seed production methods to increase the yield and quality of grain and seeds
