SIGNS OF LONG-TERM ADAPTATION AND REPRODUCTIVE QUALITIES IN SOWS OF THE LARGE WHITE BREED OF HUNGARIAN ORIGIN

Abstract

The paper presents the results of research into the adaptive and productive qualities of sows of the Large White breed of Hungarian origin using a new mathematical model of the selection index, determines the criteria for selecting the leading group of animals of the main herd and the economic efficiency of their use. The research was conducted at the Druzhba-Kaznacheivka Joint-Stock Company of the Dnipropetrovsk region and the animal husbandry laboratory of the State Institution Institute of Grain Crops of the NAAS. It was established that the maximum indicators of life expectancy and duration of breeding use are characterized by sows of the III experimental group (Kh2=109.97-183.97 points). Animals of the specified group are superior to sows of the II and I experimental groups in terms of life expectancy and duration of breeding use by 29.11-57.24 and 34.94 and 66.88%, in terms of the number of farrowing received during the breeding use period - by 36.60 and 67.85%, in terms of the total number of live piglets received - by 38.97 and 70.06%, multiparity – by 3.47 and 6.95%, nest mass at the time of weaning at the age of 28 days – by 3.46 and 6.44%, nest mass at the time of weaning at the age of 28 days – by 3.58 and 6.57%, respectively. The maximum survival rates of piglets before weaning at the age of 28 days (91.6±1.19%) were found in sows of the first experimental group (Kh2=22.91-53.09 points). The number of reliable pairwise correlation coefficients between the index of adaptive and productive qualities of sows Kh2, their lifespan, duration of breeding use, and reproductive qualities is 62.5%. The linear regression coefficient (Rx/y, Rу/х) between the index of adaptive and productive qualities Kh2, lifespan, duration of breeding use, multiparity and litter weight at the time of weaning at the age of 28 days in sows of the Large White breed of Hungarian origin ranges from 0.031 to 13.19. The use of sows of the III experimental group (Kh2=109.97-183.97 points) ensures the maximum increase in additional production. It is +3.71%, and its cost is +188.74 UAH / head / farrowing
