MILK PRODUCTIVITY OF THE SIMMENTAL COWS (DAIRY AND MEAT BREED) UNDER DIFFERENT SELECTION OPTIONS

The research was conducted on Simmental breeding herds of Lviv region (breeding plant «Pchany-Denkovych» and breeding producer «Litynske»). The farms used semen from purebred Simmental bulls and red Holstein bulls. Based on a retrospective analysis of data for the period from 2007 to 2022, milk productivity indicators were studied in cows of different lines. In the Simmental breeding herds of the Lviv region (the breeding plant of the «Pchany-Denkovych» and the breeding producer of the «Litynske»), semen from purebred Simmental bulls and red Holstein bulls was used. Thus, in the breeding plant «Litynske» the best results in terms of milk productivity were obtained with crosses of the lines ♂Redad × ♀Horror and ♂Redad × ♀Streyf, which were characterized by the highest level of milk yield for the first three and higher lactations. In the herd of the breeding plant «Pchany-Denkovych» with regard to the level of milk yield per lactation, the best results were obtained with crosses of the lines ♂Horror x ♀Redad, ♂Horror x ♀ Romulus and ♂Romulus x ♀Streyf. When using interbreed crossing, different efficiency of selection of Holstein bulls to cows of individual Simmental lines was established. In terms of milk yield per lactation, the best cows were the combinations ♂Chief x ♀Streyf, ♂Starbuck x ♀Redad and ♂Kavaler x ♀ Romulus.
