During 2022–2024 а study was conducted at the experimental field of the Department of Vegetable Growing of Uman National University to investigate the effect of absorbents on the productivity of leafy vegetables – head lettuce, leaf lettuce, and spinach. The experiment involved the use of the varieties Dublianskyi and Akane (leaf lettuce), Goddar and Fairly (head lettuce), and spinach hybrids Gnu F1 and Spiros F1. Field trials were laid out in four replications using a two-factor randomized block design. It was found that the application of absorbents, especially in powder form, significantly increased biometric parameters and yields of all studied crops. The greatest increase in leaf and head mass (from 5.2 to 6.8 %) and yield (up to
8.2 %) was observed with powdered absorbents. The use of absorbents significantly increased the reserves of productive soil moisture in the root zone, particularly during the active vegetation phase (May), which positively influenced plant growth and development. The study confirmed the efficiency of lettuce crops as indicators of short-term agro-technological changes. It was established that powdered absorbents improve soil moisture conditions and reduce plant stress under unstable water supply. The results confirm the feasibility of using absorbents in adaptive vegetable growing technologies under climate change conditions.
