One of the urgent problems of beekeeping is the development of modern technologies to increase production, in particular, of the royal jelly. The work provides a review of the literature on the uniqueness of bee royal jelly. Royal jelly is a biologically active product of beekeeping, which has numerous medicinal properties and is widely used in medicine, cosmetology and the food industry. This product also plays an important role in dietary nutrition. It has a general tonic effect, stimulates metabolism, restores the function of endocrine glands, improves hematopoiesis and activity of the heart and digestive organs, increases oxygen consumption by tissues and activates carbohydrate oxidation processes, which promotes tissue respiration and tissue growth as well as organ development. Studies confirm that royal jelly has antibacterial properties, accelerates wound healing and has radioprotective effects. Analysis of the literature indicates a very complex chemical composition of royal jelly, which is represented by about 100 different substances, the content of which varies depending on the periods of its selection, methods of storage, and processing. Due to its physical properties and chemical composition, bee royal jelly is a unique product of beekeeping, containing many nutrients and biologically active substances that affect the development of bees. The physiological role of these substances in the body of bees and other animals requires further research.
