A special role in the genesis and formation of soil fertility, environmental protection and sustainable development of agriculture is played by organic matter of the soil and its most stable important component – humus. A comprehensive study of the regime of soil organic matter, transformation processes of changes in content and quality indicators of humus is possible on the basis of obtaining reliable and objective information in the conditions of basic long-term stationary studies. Such studies are especially relevant for light-gray forestal surface-glazed soils with low humus content and high acidity of the soil solution, which occupy large areas in the Carpathian region. It is known that the anthropogenic load on the agricultural landscapes of these soils in modern conditions tends to increase and is a decisive factor causing the degradation of soils and soil cover, especially under conditions of climate change. 50-year studies conducted in the conditions of a long-term stationary experiment show that the group composition of humus is a direct consequence of the processes of transformation of organic matter and is closely related to the agricultural system. The organo-mineral fertilization system with the application of N65P68K68 manure in a four-field crop rotation, 10 t/ha of the crop rotation area on the background of liming of 1.0 n CaСО3 per Hg at the end of the VIII th rotation, to the greatest extent intensifies the processes of humus accumulation. At the same time, the content of humus increases to 1.91% with a simultaneous improvement of its group composition to 0.79 against 0.63 in the control without fertilizers due to a decrease in the content of fulvic acids. The mineral fertilization system on light-gray forestal soils is effective only on the background of liming. The introduction of mineral fertilizers contributes to the further fulvatization of humus due to the increase in the content of "aggressive" fulvic acids. As a result, the group composition of humus approaches the control variant and is 0.63. The humus content increases to 1.60% against 1.53% in the control without fertilizers.
