Abstract

The data are given on the use of the phytobiotic additive Activio, created on the basis of extracts of essential oils of chili pepper, cinnamon and oregano, the use of which with colostrum, contributes to the formation of own immunity and the intensive population of the gastrointestinal tract with useful microflora. It was investigated that the intensive growth of calves was facilitated by feeding the Activio in the amount of 70 and 100 g/t of starter compound feed. In particular, the calves of the experimental group, which received a mixture of essential oil extracts with compound feed in all age periods, had higher live weight gains by 4.46–10.22 % compared to the calves of the control group. On average, over the entire period of the experiment (from 30 to 270 days of age), this advantage amounted to 8.97 %. The increase in live weight gain was associated with the intensification of metabolic processes. It was established that the content of total proteins in the blood serum of calves of the experimental group was higher by 8.00–9.81 % compared to the control. Along with this, an increase in the level of immunoglobulins was noted from 1.31 to 33.12 g/l, i.e. a 25-fold increase, while in the control group – 18-fold increase. It has been studied that during the first 30 days observed an intensive development of cicatricial digestion due to an increase in the content of bacteria and ciliates. However, compared to the control, their number in the experimental group was higher by 16.20 and 10.73 %, respectively. An increase in the level of total and protein protein in the rumen content of calves of both groups was noted with age. In the experimental group, this increase compared to the control amounted to 10.29 and 9.38 %, respectively. Research on the enzymatic activity of rumen microorganisms indicates an increase in amylolytic, proteolytic, and cellulolytic activity in calves of the experimental group at 30 days of age, respectively, by 31.8; 17.3 and 17.3 % compared to control analogues.
